	About Us

	We at the North Queensland Day Surgical Centre believe in the individuality of each patient, and in delivering the best quality care to each and every patient regardless of their race, creed, socio-economic status, and of our own personal thoughts and beliefs.

	We strive to provide a well organised, cost effective and high quality care, throughout the immediate pre-operative, peri-operative and recovery process to all patients who utilize the centre.

	We will continue to meet our customers needs and expectations by further developing our specialty - clinical nursing skills and practices.


	Objectives

	To provide excellence in ophthalmic care. To minimise the emotional impact of surgery for the patient and maintain their privacy and dignity. To ensure a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and staff. To make Total Quality Management part of our daily practice by identifying both internal and external customer needs and creating feedback systems based on continuous Quality Management to ensure these needs are met. To implement the highest possible standards of nursing care to patients and families during the immediate pre-operative, peri-operative and recovery process. To use a collaborative approach to all members of the team within the Day Surgery Centre in order to plan and provide optimum care for our patients by employing appropriately qualified and experience staff. To promote a cohesive team by providing avenues such as monthly unit meetings and quality care conferences in order to discuss concerns, new concepts and improve methods of care: • acquisition of new equipment • budget requirements • infection control monitoring • Total Quality Management activities To balance compassion with the efficient workings of the centre and the needs of the patient. To provide a cost effective service by ensuring equipment is maintained and stock supplies meet the needs of nursing and the health care team. To ensure that all operating room nurses continually advance their clinical skills and performance competency via personal and professional accountability.
